Nocturne Editions is a small sheet music publisher based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. We collect as little personal information as we can, and we never sell it. This page explains what we collect, why, and what your rights are.
What we collect
Order information. When you buy from us, we collect your name, email address, billing details, and (for print orders) your shipping address. We need this to deliver your purchase, send receipts, and meet tax and accounting obligations.
Payment details. Payments are processed by WooCommerce Payments (powered by Stripe). Your card number goes directly to the payment processor over a secure connection. We never see or store your full card details. Apple Pay and Google Pay work the same way.
Account information. If you create an account (for example, to use the wishlist or re-download purchases), we store your email, your order history, and your saved items.
Email addresses for our newsletter. If you sign up for our newsletter, we store your email address through MailPoet, our newsletter tool, and use it only to send you the updates you asked for. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.
Cookies. Our site uses functional cookies to keep your cart working, remember your currency (CAD or USD, based on your approximate location), and keep you logged in. With your consent where required, we also set the analytics and advertising cookies described below.
Analytics and advertising. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site (pages viewed, approximate location, device type) and Google Ads to measure our advertising, managed through Google Tag Manager. These tools set cookies and share usage data with Google, which processes it under its own privacy policy. The data we see is aggregated; we do not use it to identify you personally. You can opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on and manage ad personalization at Google Ad Settings.
What we do not do
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not send marketing email unless you opted in. We share data only with the service providers needed to run the store: our payment processor, our web host, our print-on-demand partner (shipping name and address only), and our email tool.
How long we keep it
We keep order records for as long as Canadian tax and accounting law requires, generally seven years. Account data is kept while your account is active. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time to:
- See the personal information we hold about you
- Correct anything that is wrong
- Delete your account and personal data, except records we are legally required to keep
- Unsubscribe from any emails

Canada (PIPEDA)
We handle personal information in line with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). We collect data only with your consent and only for the purposes described here. If you have a concern we cannot resolve, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
European Union and UK customers (GDPR)
If you are in the EU or UK, the legal bases for our processing are: performance of a contract (fulfilling your order), legal obligation (tax records), and consent (newsletter signup). You have the additional rights to data portability, to restrict or object to processing, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be noted on the site.
