What file format do I get, and what is the quality like?
Every digital edition is a high-resolution PDF, newly engraved by Nocturne Editions. These are not scans of old library copies. Each score is freshly typeset for clean, modern readability: clear noteheads, sensible page turns, and generous spacing. PDFs are print-ready at any size and look crisp on tablets and score-reading apps.
How does delivery work?
Instantly. As soon as your payment goes through, you will see a download link on the order confirmation page, and the same link arrives by email. No waiting, no shipping fees for digital editions. If you create an account, your purchases also live in your account area for re-downloading.
Can I re-download something I bought earlier?
Yes. Log into your account and your purchased files are available under your order history. If you checked out as a guest or lost the email, contact us with the email address you used to order and we will restore your access. Download links do not expire and there is no download limit; your music stays available.
Any tips for printing at home?
A few that make a real difference:
- Paper size. Our editions are laid out on 9×12 inch pages, the traditional professional sheet music size, which gives the most comfortable reading experience. If you are printing at home on US Letter or A4, choose “Fit to page” or print at 100% and trim; avoid “Shrink to fit” settings that make the music smaller than necessary.
- Paper weight. Standard 20 lb (75 gsm) copy paper works, but a heavier 28 to 32 lb (105 to 120 gsm) paper sits better on the stand and survives rehearsals.
- Double-sided. Print double-sided (“flip on long edge”) so page turns fall where the engraving intends them to.
- No printer? Most copy shops will print and even coil-bind a PDF for a few dollars, or simply order our print edition and let us do it properly.
How long does shipping take for print editions?
Printed editions are produced on demand. Typical delivery, including production, is 3 to 5 business days within Canada, 5 to 7 business days to the United States, and 10 to 15 business days internationally. You will receive a notice when your order ships.
What payment methods do you accept?
All major credit and debit cards, plus Google Pay and Apple Pay, processed securely through WooCommerce Payments. We never see or store your card details.
What currency will I be charged in? What about taxes?
Prices display in Canadian dollars (CAD) or US dollars (USD) based on your location, and you are charged in the currency shown at checkout. Applicable sales taxes are calculated at checkout based on where you are. If your card settles in a different currency, your bank handles the conversion.
Do you do custom arrangements or engraving?

I am a composer. Can I submit my work for publication?
We love hearing from composers. Our catalog currently focuses on new engravings of classical repertoire, and we plan to publish original and contemporary works as we grow. Email contact@nocturneeditions.com with a short introduction and a sample of your work, and we will tell you honestly whether it is a fit and what the timeline looks like.
I am buying for a choir or ensemble. How many copies do I need?
One per performer. Ensemble and choral editions are licensed per copy, so a choir of twelve needs twelve copies, even for digital files. Ensemble product pages state their minimum purchase quantity. Need an unusual arrangement, like a large program or a school? Email us and we will sort out a fair license.
Can I share my PDF with a friend or my students?
Printing copies for yourself and your own students is covered by your license (see Your Edition License). Sharing the PDF file itself, by email, cloud link, or upload, is not. If a friend wants the edition, the kindest thing for a small publisher is to point them to the product page. Studio and multi-copy licenses are available; just ask.
